Stawiarski, Moist named Lombard’s 2026 Seniors of the Year

The Village of Lombard recognized Jackie Stawiarski and Lynn Moist as the 2026 Senior Woman and Senior Man of the Year during the Village Board meeting on Thursday, Oct. 1. The annual awards honor residents age 65 and older who make a positive difference through volunteerism and service.

Stawiarski was recognized for her longstanding commitment to helping others across the community. Over the years she has volunteered with the Lombard Junior Women’s Club, TLC Camp, St. Pius X, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, and Ray Graham Association — making blankets for local causes, collecting donations, sharing produce from her garden with food pantries, and preparing food for people experiencing homelessness.

Moist was recognized for his dedicated service to The Outreach House, where he regularly helps unload and organize food and clothing donations, assists donors, and maintains receiving and storage areas. For more than 50 years he has also donated blood and platelets, reaching more than 250 lifetime donations.

“Jackie and Lynn are wonderful examples of the difference one person can make by simply giving their time willingly in the service of others,” said Trustee Jessie Hammersmith, chair of the Community Relations Committee.

Other residents nominated for this year’s awards included Cathy Folz, Elaine Delgado, and Deanna “DeeDee” Pisano and Dale Pisano.
